Now there is an easy way for body shops to get assurance that a repair work is done perfectly saving time and money on any potential re-work: simply apply Teroson QuickCheck, a new waterborne paint finish simulator from Henkel.

Newly developed Technomelt Supra Cool 130 from Henkel unites the best of both worlds: a processing temperature of just 130 °C – previously the preserve of EVA-based hotmelts – fused with all the benefits of Supra technology to give exceptionally high bond strength, outstanding flowability and a much wider range of application suitability.

With its range of emission-reduced polyurethane hotmelt adhesives (PUR hotmelts), Henkel is setting new standards of occupational health and safety in the graphic arts industry. The innovative adhesives of the Purmelt MicroEmission series are a response to the growing awareness of the need for sustainable production processes in the industry and are recommended by accident insurance institutions. At Frankfurt Book Fair 2009, the Company is presenting not only improved products for spine binding, but also emission-reduced PUR hotmelts for side gluing and endpapering.

When processing magazines and other soft cover products, bookbinders are faced with a constant worry. Since conventional PUR hotmelts take up to eight hours to cure, reliable quality checks are only possible after the completion of an entire job, even in the case of large print runs. In the worst case, this can mean a high level of wastage and complaints and generate high costs. Henkel is now taking this weight off bookbinders’ minds. At Frankfurt Book Fair 2009, the Company is presenting a PUR adhesives system that part-cures in a matter of minutes with the aid of UV light and permits immediate quality checks.

Offering exemplary manufacturing cost-efficiency, pasting is among the most important of the post-print process technologies. And hotmelts offer a particularly decisive advantage in such applications: because they cool within seconds, yet produce an almost instant adhesive bond of sufficient strength to enable high production speeds. Hence Henkel will be providing an overview of the performance capabilities of its Technomelt hotmelts at the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair.

During the first four days, the conference will be accompanied by an exhibition for which 800 companies have registered, among them Henkel.

End of September will bring the who’s who of the photovoltaic industry to the 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference in Hamburg. At the accompanying trade fair (September 21 – 24) Henkel shows a broad variety of solutions covering the entire photovoltaic process chain. The whole world of welding technology will be in the spotlight at the 17th international ESSEN WELDING FAIR. From September 14 to 19, 2009, the most comprehensive international fair in the sector will present a complete overview of the latest developments and innovations relating to all aspects of joining, cutting and coating. More than 1,000 exhibitors from 42 nations will be present in Essen, among them Henkel – for the first time.

The company will present its latest product innovations at Drinktec 2009 in Munich, Germany.

For the first time, Henkel can now offer laminating technician courses accredited by the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CoCI). Henkel’s Liofol Academy study program offers participants theoretical and practical training, leading to the qualification of laminating technician in the field of flexible packaging.

Diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP), a plasticizer frequently used until now in adhesives for the paper converting industry, is suspected of being harmful to health. The German manufacturers and processors of paper, board and cardboard have therefore undertaken to stop using products containing DiBP. To protect consumers in the long term, Henkel has now come up with a solution – the Adhesin A 78 Series, a new generation of plasticizer-free adhesives formulations for all applications in the paper and packaging industry.

After different exchanges with the French government - in particular the Ministry for Foreign Affairs - and based on their firm recommendations, the organizers of the Dakar have taken the decision to cancel the 2008 edition of the rally, scheduled from the 5th to the 20th of January between Lisbon and Senegal’s capital.

For more than 15 years now, Henkel has been putting adhesive bonds to the test at the Global Engineering Center in Garching near Munich. Customers from all branches of industry benefit enormously from the know-how of the adhesive experts there.

Henkel’s industrial division is a major supplier to the international air-conditioning industry. Up to now the main focus of the product portfolio has been on pre-treatment products and cleaners as well as adhesives and sealants for the manufacture of the casings. Now the product range has been extended to include a range of the special lubricants required in large quantities in the manufacture of heat exchangers. Users benefit not only from enhanced performance and lower consumption, but also from improved health and safety aspects.

Numerous breweries and mineral water bottlers are indirectly affected by higher world market prices for dairy products. Traditionally used labeling adhesives contain casein obtained from cow’s milk. The price of casein has recently risen dramatically and, in the opinion of raw materials experts, is unlikely to decrease shortly. As an alternative, Henkel supplies innovative casein-free adhesives that perform equally well.

From September 26 to 29, Henkel is presenting the latest developments in pressure-sensitive adhesives and UV coatings for hotmelt coaters and label printers at the LabelExpo 2007 in Brussels. The focus is on single-source, mutually adapted systems solutions and premium products for label converting. Henkel's appearance at the LabelExpo will provide greater insights into points raised at Henkel’s 2^nd Open House for label printing and converting, held in Düsseldorf in May 2007, which drew over 150 customers and technology partners from all over Europe.

Effective April 1, 2007, the Consumer and Craftsmen Adhesives and Henkel Technologies business sectors will be merged to form the new Adhesives Technologies business sector, with total sales of 5.5 billion euros realized in fiscal 2006. 

On January 6 the starting signal will be given for the 29th edition of the 16-day race across the desert and Henkel will be in.
