The first joint venture in Eastern Europe was initiated by Henkel in Hungary in the year 1987. Today Budapest-based Henkel Magyarország operates two production facilities, employing a work force of around 700 people. The most important brands on the Hungarian market are Biopon, BC Bonacure, Bref, Ceresit, Fa, Loctite, OSiS, Palette, Pattex, Persil, Schauma, Taft, Thomsit and Tomi.
