About this Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Total Rewards Manager to join our dynamic team in Japan. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in multinational companies, with extensive expertise in Rewards and Compensation. This individual will play a key role in ensuring compliance with local regulations, driving innovative solutions, and working closely with regional Centers of Excellence (COE) to optimize and implement Total Rewards strategies across Japan. 

What you´ll do

  • Rewards Strategy & Best Practices: Lead the design, implementation, and communication of total rewards programs in alignment with both local market conditions and global strategies. Advise on Japan-specific regulations and ensure the company complies with all local labor laws and tax regulations.
  • Collaboration with Regional COE: Collaborate with the regional Centers of Excellence (COE) to contribute innovative ideas and solutions that align with both local and regional reward objectives.
  • End-to-End Process Ownership: Manage the end-to-end execution of total rewards initiatives at the regional level, working closely with the local HR team to ensure smooth implementation and effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including HR, leadership, and functional teams, to effectively communicate and manage rewards programs.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Utilize data and analytics to assess and refine rewards programs, ensuring competitiveness in the local market while aligning with organizational goals.
  • Adaptability & Growth: Demonstrate agility in managing a variety of projects beyond core rewards responsibilities. Exhibit ambition and a strong desire to grow professionally, potentially expanding into broader HR or leadership roles.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure the company’s reward programs are compliant with Japanese labor laws and other relevant regulations, regularly reviewing and adjusting policies as needed.

What makes you a good fit

  • Minimum 8 years of proven track record in Total Rewards/Compensation & Benefits within multinational organizations. · Strong knowledge of Japanese labor laws, tax regulations, and compensation structures.
  • Experience in collaborating with regional COEs and implementing innovative rewards solutions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to work with data to inform decisions and improve processes. A background in statistics or similar is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think critically and propose creative solutions
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on compliance and best practices
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Agile and adaptable, with the ability to take on projects outside of traditional rewards functions.
  • Ambitious, with a strong desire to grow within the field and beyond, showing leadership potential.
  • Working proficiency English and a high level of Japanese required
